Mima Ceramics

The heart of Mima Ceramics is connection—the seamless journey from studio to home, where these objects become part of daily life, to be held, shared, and cherished.

Michelle Organ Ceramic Artist from Toronto Canada

The Brand

Mima Ceramics is a collection of hand-crafted tableware, thoughtfully made by Michelle Organ in Toronto. Each piece begins as a lump of clay, shaped on the wheel or slip-cast, then trimmed, sanded, glazed and fired. Blending traditional techniques with modern colors and graphic prints. The result is a harmony of form and function—pieces that are not only beautiful but designed to be used and loved every day.

With a balance of craft, play, and years of practice, Mima Ceramics is ever-evolving. Inspiration is drawn from the textures of everyday life. The work embraces simplicity while exploring the interplay of clays, surfaces, and colors. Each piece tells a quiet story, inviting touch, use, and ritual.

The Studio

The name Mima (or Mims for short) was a childhood nickname given to Michelle Organ by her next-door neighbor—one that has stayed with her through the years.

Michelle not only creates but also shares her passion for ceramics through hands-on teaching. She offers both group classes and private lessons, welcoming students of all skill levels to explore the art of pottery. Whether you're a beginner learning the basics or an experienced maker refining your technique, the studio is a space for creativity, experimentation, and growth.

The Founder

Michelle’s journey with ceramics began after studying Product Design at Parson's School of Design in New York City. Returning to Toronto, she first worked from her parents' basement before founding The Shop Toronto: the city’s first makerspace dedicated to ceramics and craft. For nine years, The Shop nurtured a vibrant creative community. Mima Ceramics was born at The Shop, but now steps into its next chapter at Mima Ceramics Studio & Showroom—a space where the work continues to grow, transform, and take on new life.
